Most of my middle school votes have been tallied. Still waiting on returns from my high school classes.
*Election Update*
High school votes came in and they really showed up in force for Five Guys. Pretty impressive county map drawn by a middle schooler from memory.
In ‘n Out takes it! Stale fries and Bible verses for everyone! Last minute write ins for Freddy’s and Smash Burger.

Just hope you don’t have any virtual students from Nevada.

Five Guys? Geezus, are you teaching “remedial”.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:00 |

Does this mean that I should actually try Shake Shack?
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:00 |

Never been to any of the three.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:04 |

Smashburger though.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:07 |

Five Guys is really taking a beating here, the poll numbers did not see this coming.

There is a Five Guys in town, but I’ve never been, I have been to Shake Shack though which we don’t have around here. My first memory of a Shake Shack burger was like a revelation , but the last time I was there it was just ok. For a chain burger my vote goes to Culvers.

B ut how many were mailed in??
I demand a recount.
You will be hearing from my lawyers.

There aren’t many places in the US where all three of these are available.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:21 |

This vote is tainted. Five Guys should be leading, and I’m personally appalled that WHATABURGER isn’t even on the ticket.
#Recount

Just moved away from the midwest and I miss Culver’s like crazy. I would say 5 guys is better, but Culver’s has more repeatability.
Shake Shack and In-N-Out are about equal for me.

Steak ‘n Shake? Culvers? Dairy Queen?

We do have Whataburgers here, but no one eats at them.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:31 |

Votes are still being counted, so I wouldn’t head there yet.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:33 |

I could have added even more regional chains to the list, but I had to narrow it down. We also have Culver’ s and Whataburger here.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:34 |

I had one student chastise Five Guys on account of his peanut allergy.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:36 |

We’re going to need a supervised recount. We’ll ha ve to figure out how to get monitors over to your classroom ASAP.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:38 |

Seriously. I've had all three and five guys is definitely the best.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:46 |
|
Yeah. There’s that, too.
I gave up on them with the “Ha-Ha, a ‘Medium’ bag of fries weighs 5 pounds”.
For me, there’s no reasonable way to mitigate a Five Guys Stop as a recipe for an MI and a stent.

Steak N’ Shake double garlic cheeseburger > every other “option” in this thread.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:53 |

See, and I find Shake Shack underwhelming. I could get an equally satisfying meal for $3 less at Five Guys.

You say this like it’s a bad thing
![]() 11/06/2020 at 14:58 |

Can we please argue about why In-n-out is best? Because that really brings back memories.

Whataburger is the Beto of burger restaurants
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:03 |

Five guys is good but always ends up super expensive.
In ‘n out is fine but there is usually a line a mile long and if you go inside, thousands of kids running freely jumping over booths. Literally my nightmare.
I went to a shake shack once and it was ok, nothing mind blowing. Unremarkable experience.
This has been terrible, substance less food reviews with PowderHound. Thank you and merry Hanukah
.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:07 |

my hot take: In n Out wouldn’t be NEARLY as popular/have such a cultish following if it wasn’t so geographically scarce.
There, I said it!
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:07 |

and their fries are always cold!

Everything looks good, but it just doesn’t work out?
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:20 |

“looks good" sure
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:25 |

Meh. Burgers are fine. Fries are fine. Like middle school, but crispy.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:29 |
|
I feel like the main thing in common between Five Guys, In ‘n Out, and Shake Shack is that they’re all overrated. Five Guys has good (but greasy) burgers and (imho) terrible fries, and In ‘n Out is fine, I guess, but nothing to go out of my way for.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:30 |
|
People waited in line to eat at fucking White Castle when it opened here. I could not understand that one. We’ve had In and Out here for well over a decade, and they are still always packed. They are dirt cheap, which is why they’re so popular.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:34 |
|
We only have one Steak ‘n Shake , and it’s more of a novelty restaurant opened up next to ASU . There are quite a few Culver’s, but I think only our Wisconsin transplants eat there. No one really gets anything other than ice cream at DQs here.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:35 |
|
We only have Five Guys here. It’s quite good. I’ve had In an Out once. It was also quite good. It was 15 years ago though, so I can’t call it. Never even seen a Shake Shack.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:39 |
|
Five Guys isn’t the unanimous winner? Clearly rigged by big burger.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:40 |
|
That’s what I was hoping for.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:46 |
|
How is whataburger not on the list then?
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:47 |
|
Shake Shack is like Five Guys, but sub peanuts with beer.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:50 |
|
But both 5 guys and shake Shack cost twice as much. Literally. Burger, fries, and drink at in n out is like $7-8. That same meal at shake Shack or 5 guys would be $12-15. It’s an unfair comparison because while I prefer a 5 guys burger and the bag of fries with all the toppings on the burger , I’d rather have two double doubles animal style, well done fries, ice tea, and then have like $5 leftover for another double double another day!
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:53 |
|
It’s pretty good, worth a visit. Expensive as all hell but I’ve always enjoyed eating there. Seriously will spend as much as eating at a local restaurant.

STOP THE VOTE

Heathens! I think it's bit of the "forbidden fruit" to me though since I have all the in n out I could dream of here in LA. But whataburger is unattainable, so I desire it more.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 15:57 |

I have some grievances to air! Time for feats of strength to prove which one is better. I'll go set up the pole.

If you process them correctly, they can be the wurst.

I actually never realized we had Whataburgers here until Stef mentioned them on Oppo i n one of our burger fight posts. Then I noticed they are all over. Still haven’t eaten there.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 16:23 |
|
It’s a fair comparison, because no one voting in this election buys their own food.
We have a local burger joint here that is a lot better than any of them. Costs about the same as Shake Shack and Five Guys, so that’s where I go for a fast food burger.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 16:24 |

Ended up getting one write in vote.

After watching adults over the last few years, they’re definitely a lot better than any of us. I was actually preparing for them to argue over this, but they all listened and respected their classmate’s choices .

Do they eat burgers in the PNW?
![]() 11/06/2020 at 16:33 |

Ha s that been a conscience effort or do you not enjoy burgers?
![]() 11/06/2020 at 16:33 |

Oh man, Smash Burger. I’ve eaten there twice-- it was inedibly salty both times. And I, like, put salt on salt.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 16:40 |
|
Only one Steak ‘n Shake in WA, I think, and it is a novelty type thing too in downtown Seattle, likely going for transplants. No Culvers, no Shake Shack or In ‘n Out that I recall . PNW seems to lack the entire national breadth of fast food options
I don’t eat burgers, and I like Blizzards, so DQ is always a good option.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 16:42 |

I haven't been to any of them either for the simple fact that there's none around here.

![]() 11/06/2020 at 17:31 |

You need to go tomorrow morning and order a honey butter chicken biscuit. For lunch, order a hatch green chili burger or a double meat double cheese with whatever you want on it.
You will forever hate In-n-Out.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 17:32 |

Whataburger is a glorious restaurant that makes burger, shakes, and motherfucking taquitos with love.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 17:37 |

I don’t mean they are bad at being humans, I mean thier taste in food is trash.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 18:19 |

Actually a very good point. If I do a double-double and fries, I’m usually searching around for some kind of desert 1 hr later.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 18:26 |

I find your lack of Whataburger disturbing

Gotcha. Advantage Five Guys for me, as I like p eanuts, and I don’t drink.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 19:21 |

I only go to In ‘n Out because it is dirt cheap and they have vegetarian options for my kids, not because it is good. I’m c leaning up my diet, so I’ll have to pass on the chicken biscuits, but I’ll try out the chili burger. They do have the coolest logo and color scheme of any fast food place.
![]() 11/06/2020 at 19:30 |

No one eats there. I doubt any of my kids would even know what it is.

We have them, but no one eats there.

Plot twist: I know the guy who started five guys. He lives in my city and keeps his boats at the same marina as me. He’s a nice guy. Started out with a burger shop with his sons and is now a multinational businessman. His sons own giant houses in town. Burger kings.
I like the fries!

oh the joys of being a kid again. Being an adult and having to pay money for food sucks. Although having choice is more valuable to me.
